Robert Downey Jr. and his Iron Man showed up at the New York Stock Exchange last Tuesday to ceremoniously ring the opening bell. Today, as the opening weekend of Iron Man 3 domestic box office receipts get tallied, you can see why Iron Man, Marvel, Disney, and the New York Stock Exchange all neatly fit together. Marvel is BIG BUSINESS for Disney. Iron Man 3 is slated for the second largest U.S. box office opening of all time, only last year's The Avengers (also starring Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man) had a bigger opening. In it's first 3 days of business, Iron Man 3 has made Disney about $175 million dollars.
A personal exploration of Disney media along with the chronicling of my many trips to Disneyland through the years. And while this is primarily a Disney and Disneyland blog, along the way I occasionally contribute writings on some other pop culture and media topics just for the fun of it. There are almost 800 posts to this blog. Click through the Archives and I hope you have a good time. Enjoy The Disneyland Traveler Blog (completely without ads or annoying attempts to sell you anything).
